Tamar Portnoy is a seasoned professional with over 15 years of extensive experience in the field of customer service. She created Customer Service Warrior to help people enhance their skills and navigate the complexities of customer interactions with confidence and finesse.

Background: Childhood Influence

I grew up with a large family but had to take on adult responsibilities early on. One of my brothers was frequently in and out of hospital and naturally, this took up a lot of my parents time. As one of the older siblings I became a second mother and took on the role of caretaker and mediator to my younger brothers and sisters.

This role forced me to become more patient and empathetic and to quickly learn to navigate the complex dynamics of my interesting (to say the least) family without causing too much destruction. Little did I know, that these early life experiences were preparing me for a career where all those skills would prove invaluable.

Career: The Skills Unfold

With a career that so far, spans over 15 years, I have held several roles, each of which helped shape the person I have become today.

My early career was marked by roles in medical billing and record retrieval where I learnt to navigate the intricacies of financial transactions, corresponding with clients, and the complexities of claims management. The meticulousness demanded by handling sensitive medical information laid the groundwork for the attention to detail that has become synonymous with my approach to customer service.

When I transitioned into a role as a Senior Customer Success Specialist, I not only provided support through various channels but also undertook leadership roles, leading teams, and engaging in public speaking. This phase underscored the significance of adaptability in an ever-evolving landscape. It was here that my passion for guiding customer success became more than a role – it became a mission.

My most recent professional chapter led me to develop a holistic view of customer care. As a Customer Care, Support, and Trainer, I found joy in training users on medical devices while managing various support aspects. This role has emphasized the interconnected nature of customer care, where technical expertise merges seamlessly with compassionate support.

Customer Service Warrior: Empowering Others

The creation of Customer Service Warrior was a natural next step for me. After all, my career is about helping others, why shouldn’t other customer service agents be included in that too? It is after all, what I know best.

I am excited to share the lessons I’ve learnt, the knowledge and skills that I have acquired and the experiences I have had (both the good ones and the bad) so that together, we can continue our journey of mastering the art of exceptional customer service.
